Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, March 5th, 2015

Preston Vegotsky earned the win, and Alex Lara and Jon Hook each had two hits as the Coral Glades Jaguars rallied for two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat visiting Pompano Beach 5-4 on Thursday.

Devin Ramirez picked up the win as Cypress Bay beat Western 13-9 in 10 innings in an 8A-12 game. The Lightning won their fourth in a row and also improved to 4-0 in the district.

In another 12-8A game, John Burke belted two doubles, driving in four runs, and Greg Snyder smacked a two-run home run to key Piper’s 14-5 win over South Plantation.

Tommy Taborda pitched a complete-game six-hitter and also backed up his effort at the plate with a three-run home run as Calvary Christian maintained its dominance in 4A-14 with a 6-1 win over North Broward Prep. The first-place Eagles are 6-1 in the district as they improved to 6-4 overall.

In another 4A-14 game, University School survived a battle with Chaminade-Madonna, winning 8-6 after rallying for five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
