That summer Troy went on to play in numerous Showcases, the Junior Olympic Team trials, and the prestigious Midland Redskins Connie Mack Team in Cincinnati, OH. Heading into Senior Year, Troy was named Pre-season All American for the second straight season. Troy was sent to advance Rookie ball in Danville Virginia for his first professional season. The following year he was sent to the Braves Single A team in Macon, GA. In 1999, Troy made the All-Star team for the South Atlantic League and was promoted the following year to High A ball in Myrtle Beach, SC. After making the Carolina League All-Star team in 2001, as a representative of the Atlanta Braves and Myrtle Beach Pelicans, he was traded with John Rocker to the Cleveland Indians for Steve Karsay and Steve Reed. In 2002, Troy played for the Akron Aeros (Double A team for the Indians) with many major league players like Cliff Lee, Victor Martinez, and Jhonny Peralta to name a few. Before the 2002 season was over he was traded to the Colorado Rockies where he was teammates with Matt Holiday.
