Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, February 18th, 2016

University School won its third in a row and opened its 4A-7 slate with a 12-2 win over Chaminade-Madonna on Thursday. Joshua Press went 2-for-3 with four RBIs, and Buddy Heyward went 2-for-2 with two RBIs for the Sharks (4-1). Chris Schoeller drove in both of the Lions’ runs.

South Broward rode the arm of Chris Opitz to get its first 7A-15 win, 12-2 against Boyd Anderson. Opitz tossed a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Jakob Chamberlin went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a run and walk. Caleb Harper doubled and drove in two runs.

Richard Medina pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts to give Western a 10-0 win over Everglades in a 9A-12 game. Zack Urso went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI. Matt Patricio added two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Ryan Smith also homered, and Brannigan Hart went 2-for-3 with an RBI.
