Daily Recaps For Broward County Games On Tuesday, February 26th

Colin Taylor threw a no-hitter as Coral Springs Christian beat Sagemont in a District 3A-14 game to highlight Tuesday’s action around the county…


Coral Springs Christian 8, Sagemont 0 – Colin Taylor pitched a no-hitter and struck out eight as the Crusaders (5-1) got their first district win of the year. Eric Hepple went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base, and Alex Witticombe went 1-for-1 with two runs and an RBI. Touki Toussaint had a hit, stole two bases and drove in two runs.


Zion Lutheran 9, St. Andrew’s 3 – Manny Rojas went 2-for-4 with a grand slam, four RBIs and two runs as the Lions won their second game in a row to get to .500 at 3-3. Johnny Mendez went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, and Mike Rand collected two hits, scored twice and drove one in.

Calvary Christian 12, Highlands Christian 2 – The Eagles (3-2-1) earned their first district win this season as Nick Kumar went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two runs, five RBIs, and Andrew Liberty went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and two runs. Nico Lares went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs, and Luke Poirier went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs.

Somerset Academy 8, Mater Lakes Academy 5 – Chris Medina went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead the Panthers past the Bears for their second win in a row.


Pine Crest 10, Belen Jesuit 7 – Alex Perez led the Panthers to their second win in a row as he went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Steven Goldberg went 2-for-3 with a home run and two runs, and Chris Koppenhaver went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Adam Saks added two hits and drove in a run, and Ben Fiedler had a hit and a run. Matt Rothenberg scored three times.

Miramar 3, Stranahan 1 – Chris Ford pitched six and two-third innings, struck out four and allowed a run for the Mighty Dragons (2-3). Austin Ford, Kenny Stanley and Jose Lopez had hits, and Lopez had the game-tying RBI. The win was the first of the season for the Patriots (1-3).

St. Thomas 15, Plantation 0 – Alec Byrd, Grant Black and Hunter Schofield combined for no-hitter as the Raiders (3-3) won their first district game this season. Frank Richardson went 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBIs.


Flanagan 11, Pembroke Pines Charter 1 – Ryan Dodge powered the Falcons, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs. The Falcons (4-2) won their third in a row and face undefeated Cypress Bay (3-0) on Friday.

Taravella 4, Coral Springs 0 – Matt Majewski allowed two hits and no earned runs in five innings for the Trojans (4-0), who face another unbeaten team today, district foe Coral Glades.

Cypress Bay 4, Hollywood Hills 2 – Danny Cepeda homered, and Jacob Ehrlich delivered the game-winning hit to lead the Lightning (3-0). Juan De La Espriella went 2-for-3.

Cooper City 6, McArthur 3 – Jackson Nix went 2-for-3 with a run and stolen base, and Jaret Catron allowed no runs in five innings for the Cowboys (2-2) in the District 7A-16 matchup. Kevin Rosario hit a two-run home run for the Mustangs (2-3).
