Highlights, Scores and Recaps for Thursday, February 20th, 2014

Alejandro Kan tossed four shutout innings with five strikeouts in relief of winner Anthony Molina, to give the Panthers a big victory at Marlins Park Thursday morning. Kenny Moreno-Costa went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI and Yoni Rodriguez was 2-for-3 to pace the Panthers offense.

Performing at the plate and the mound, Westminster's Weston Clemente threw five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out ten. At the plate he was 2-for-2 with a walk, RBI and double. Sam Etter and Jermey Viveros both had two RBIs each. Josh Viveros was 1-for-2 with a walk, double and hit by pitch in the 10-0 victory for Westminster.

Coral Springs Charter beats Dr. Krop behind the pitching of Brent Kessinger, who went four innings striking out five. Ryan Chucid was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and two stolen bases for Charter. Victor Pimmintel went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a RBI.

Keeping Flanagan close all night, Gentry Fortuno threw a complete game, allowing no earned runs, striking out seven, and allowing six hits. Flanagan scored three in the seventh to beat Columbus on the road Thursday.

Ellen Cancel went deep for Miramar Thursday, adding four RBIs on three hits at the plate. Edward Sanchez delivered a fine pitching performance throwing four innings and striking out four. In a tough loss, Hallandale's Josh Martinez threw two innings, striking out two and allowing five earned.

In a double-digit win, Sam Gonzalez threw a complete game for Plantation.

Allowing no runs to Deerfield Beach, TJ Williams picked up the win for Coral Glades Thursday. Nick Diaz went 2-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases.

Staying hot for the Lightning, Danny Cepeda delivered a perfect day at the dish. Going 4-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, he helped lead Cypress Bay to a division win 7-3 over Cooper City. Tommy Quintero and Alex Valladares added two hits each for the Lighting.

In an extra inning contest, Chaminade-Madonna was able to get to the bullpen of University and scored three runs in the top of the eighth. In a no decision for the Suns, Fred Sultan threw seven innings, allowing no earned runs on two hits. Chaminade's Juan Martinez went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and Jose Colian was 1-for-3 with a RBI of his own. Damian Fornash picked up the win throwing 3.2 scoreless innings. In the loss for University, Evan Flugerman and Brenden McKendry recorded a pair of hits each.

Joseph Spano carved the way for the Wildcats Thursday in a district meeting against Piper. He threw five scoreless innings, striking out 10 Bengals. Anthony DiFabio was 3-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. Amiel Abreu struck out the side in one inning pitched.

Winning 10-9 the Chief's Drew Hanke went 3-for-3 with a RBI. Karl Hirsch added to the offense going 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
