Eric Rath hit a two-run homer and John Burke smacked a solo shot to help Piper break a two-game losing streak en route to a 9-4 win over Miramar in the South Broward Invitational on Saturday.

Plantation also snapped a two-game skid as it topped Everglades 8-6.

North Broward Prep earned a pair of wins over Cardinal Gibbons in 5A-14. The Eagles, who are in second place in the district behind Somerset, won 8-5 and 3-0. The Chiefs dropped to 4-10 overall and 2-6 in the district.
