Nova pitcher Ronny Patella pitched a complete-game, two-hitter and the Titans defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 3-1 to win the District 16-5A Tournament Championship.

Douglas (17-3) outlasted host St. Thomas Aquinas (11-8) 19-14 in an offensive marathon that featured nine total home runs and 32 total hits.

On a night where the seniors were honored for St. Thomas, nine of them were in the starting lineup as they beat Cardinal Gibbons on Tuesday night in a non-district game.

Nova avenged their only loss of the season with a 3-0 win over St. Thomas Friday night. The shutout was the Titans eleventh in twelve games this season.

St. Thomas’ bid to make it an all Broward semi-finals in the Nova Spring Break Tournament fell short. Nova, Western, and South Plantation advanced with wins.

St. Thomas almost threw a no-hitter, then almost lost the game, in a classic battle versus district rival Nova. In the end, the Raiders prevailed 6-5 in eleven innings.

Flanagan picked up where they left off last season in their 2011 opener. The Falcons used the long ball several times en route to a 14-4, five inning victory over St. Thomas.
